In this paper we report on the synthesis and characterization of a few alkyl substituted polyanilines into VOPO4. This was achieved by treating the monomers with the highly oxidizing host VOPO4 center dot 2H(2)O. The monomers polymerize and simultaneously insert in between the layers of the host system. The resulting nanocomposites were characterized by powder X-ray diffraction, FTIR spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis and electrical conductivity measurements. (C) 2006 Elsevier SAS.
