Abstract

A series of searches carried out in the UK during March 1993 to evaluate Reuters' Textline database as it was loaded or gatewayed on Data-Star, DIALOG, FT PROFILE, MAID, and NEXIS is described. The differences in the number of records retrieved from the various online hosts are identified, and, where differences were found, their nature is ascertained. The differences are examined in some detail, and reasons for them are put forward.
