Abstract

The purpose of this study was to obtain a descriptive profile of Canadian teachers in their first year of service. A questionnaire comprised of five sections was sent to beginning teachers. The document presents information gathered from this questionnaire on the following topics: biographical information and details on teachers' qualifications and areas of specialization, the schools in which they taught and their teaching assignments, potential problems, the most valuable source of assistance and advice for new teachers, and comments about their overall job satisfaction and professional growth. Results of the questionnaire are presented in tabular form with narrative analysis. Samples of survey questions are appended. (JD)
