Abstract

In early 1989, the University of New Brunswick (UNB) Libraries, in conjunction with the UNB Computing Services Department, to establish a CD-ROM network on campus.The ultimate objective of the system was to make searching available through public access personal computers and to individuals able to connect to the local area network (LAN). Progress made in the development and implementation of the UNB CD-ROM network are documented, including project design, initial setup and problem solving, CD-ROM product selection, workstation and network configuration, and user interface.
