Biography

Vice-President, Academic and Research; Professor

Dr. Greg Naterer is the Vice-President, Academic and Research, and a Professor in the Faculty of Sustainable Design Engineering, at the University of Prince Edward Island. He has made significant research contributions to energy systems, heat transfer and thermodynamics, including 3 books, 6 patents, and numerous refereed articles in these fields. Previously as a Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in Advanced Energy Systems, he led an international research network on the development of new hydrogen energy technologies.

Dr. Naterer received the Julian C. Smith Medal of the Engineering Institute of Canada (EIC) for exceptional achievements in the development of Canada. He was awarded the Innovative Achievement Award for research ingenuity by the Canadian Nuclear Society (CNS), and the Jules Stachiewicz Medal of the Canadian Society for Mechanical Engineering (CSME), for outstanding contributions to heat transfer. Dr. Naterer was inducted as a Fellow of several engineering societies and institutes (CSME, ASME, EIC, CAE and AIAA).

Dr. Naterer is the Editor–in–Chief of the AIAA Journal of Thermophysics and Heat Transfer – the first time an editorship of one of AIAA's prestigious series of journals has been held outside of the U.S. He received his BMath (Applied Mathematics), MASc (Mechanical Engineering) and PhD (Mechanical Engineering) degrees from the University of Waterloo.
