This article discusses issues of justice from the conference on Habit and Rehabilitation: Promoting Participation. After tracing the evolution of research presented at Habits I, II, and III, the article offers two levels of synthesis. The first level highlights the conference themes: habit, participation, and rehabilitation. The second level poses critical reflections referenced to presentations on three justice-related concepts: opportunity, enablement and empowerment, and the inclusion of difference. The implications for rehabilitation extend beyond the biomedical treatment of impairments and may lead to redesign of the habitus of rehabilitation programs and research.
