Abstract
Haemolymph from larvae of Simulium venustum Say collected in Canada was tested for the presence of 49 amino acids and other ninhydrin-positive compounds. The concentrations found are listed and discussed. In connection with the possible control of S. venustum by parasitic Mermithids, it is pointed out that the haemolymph is nutritionally suitable for the development of such parasites..
