Abstract
Studied performance on a direct distance estimation task in a large, complex environment as a function of variation in some members of the set of test locations. 36 1st-yr and 36 4th-yr undergraduates were asked to estimate distances for 7 sites in a campus building and to describe the strategies they employed.
