Abstract

British brutality was meant for extinction of the Mi'kmaq, and death covered the Mi'kmaq nation like a blanket. In the midst of all this, the Mi'kmaq rescued countless Acadians from the great deportation of 1745 and sheltered them in their woodland communities. The strength of the Mi'kmaq ensured not only their own survival, but the survival of the Acadian culture in North America.
