Abstract
Cattle herds (N=26,639) were classified as having persistently infected (PI) animals (PI-herds) or not (non-PI-herds) with 4,519 PI-herds (17.0%). Regional differences in occurrence of BVDV infections were identified. The K-function indicated clustering at 250 m and 1 km. The semivariogram indicated little spatial correlation (within 3.5 km) in relation to other sources of non-spatial variation. The SMR and mean posterior RR identified municipalities with increased risk of PI-herds associated with regions with larger herds and high herd densities..
