Factors that influence the type of antibiotics therapy used to treat mastitis are discussed and include: site of infection and resistance to chemotherapeutic agents; evaluation of the whole animal and its environment; and pharmacokinetics of the administered drug. Some practical aspects of mastitis treatment are outlined and problems of antibiotics residues in milk are also mentioned..
