Abstract

Problems associated with the lack of acceptance, and the apparent lack of effectiveness in a few herds, of mastitis control programmes are discussed. Emphasis is placed on the need for visual assessment of mastitis control (such as CMT score) which will demonstrate results to the dairyman. More advisory visits, particularly at milking time, are also suggested..
