From 1718-1739, the radical Schwenckfelder, Christopher Wiegner, kept a spiritual diary outlining his activities among Moravians, pietists, and radicals in Saxony and southeastern Pennsylvania. During this period and particularly from 1734-1739, Wiegner was in close conversation with the Brethren in America. The article provides extensive source material which offers insight into the constitution and theology of the Church of the Brethren at a formative stage of its development, and into the ecumenical relations between various sectarian communities at the time.
