Biography

Professor, Large Animal Medicine

DVM (Louisiana State); MS (Wisconsin—Madison); Dipl. ACVIM

Dr. McClure is board certified in the specialty of Large Animal Internal Medicine (ACVIM- Large Animal). He is also involved in the Infection Prevention and Control program for the AVC Veterinary Teaching Hospital.

Dr. McClure's research interests are antimicrobial pharmacology, antimicrobial resistance (AMR), antimicrobial stewardship, zoonotic diseases and food safety/infectious disease issues, and large animal immunological conditions. His research lab is part of the CaDNetASR program (AMR & AMU in Canadian dairy farms). Other recent research included infra-red assays for assessing immunoglobulins in biological fluids, FTPI in neonates, and bovine leukosis (BLV). He currently oversees the Maritime Quality Milk Laboratory which does research in bovine infectious diseases and provides diagnostic testing to producers and veterinarians in the region.
