Biography

Research Director for the Paramedicine program, Sessional Instructor

Dr. Sibley is the Associate Medical Director for the Paramedicine programs at Holland College and Research Director for both the Division of Paramedicine at the University of Prince Edward Island and the Prince Edward Island Emergency Medicine Research Group (PEIEMRG). He completed medical school at Dalhousie University and subsequently received specialty training in Emergency Medicine at the University of Alberta. Further, he completed sub-specialty training in Emergency Medicine Services. Dr. Sibley is currently a staff physician at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Charlottetown and a Clinical Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at Dalhousie University.

Dr. Sibley teaches paramedicine students evidence-based practice in pre-hospital medicine. Dr. Sibley's current research interests include the use of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles in Disaster and Prehospital medicine as well as paramedic interventions in critical care transports. He is a reviewer to the Canadian Journal of Emergency Medicine and the Dalhousie Department of Emergency Medicine Cureus Channel.

Some of the awards Dr. Sibley has received include: Canadian Association of Emergency Physicians Emergency Physician of the Year (Atlantic Region, 2022); Paramedic Association of Canada – Award of Excellence for Innovation and Research (2017); Canadian Association of Emergency Physicians (CAEP) Resident Research Abstract Award (2009); Edmonton Emergency Physicians Association Research Award (2008); NAEMSP EMS Fellowship Recognition Award (2008); Helen Holroyd Research Award, University of Alberta Department of Emergency Medicine (2007); Canadian Association of Emergency Physicians FRCP Resident Leadership Award (2007); Canadian Space Agency Aerospace Medicine Scholarship (2005); Foundation For Air Medical Research Investigator Grant (2002).
